Roulette: Inside Bets
Another way to bet in roulette is on inside bets. These bets are not as common, but they pay significantly better. People who like to roll their luck or who don’t mind some losses waiting for the big one will appreciate the inside bets option roulette offers. Believe it or not, but the majority of roulette players bet on inside bets even though they don’t win often.

Single Numbers
You may make inside bets on single numbers that are sometimes referred to as betting straight up on a number. The way you bet this way is to place your chips on the number on the betting area. Numbers that may be bet on include 0, 00, or any of the other numbers 1-36. In the illustration below the chip is placed on the "14" space (or pocket). The player will only win if the number

Payout
The odds for betting straight up are incredibly high simply because the odds are against you. So, if you choose to bet on a single number you will be paid at 35:1 odds. What this means is that if you bet $10 on number 8 as shown in this mock roulette table and you win then you will be given your original bet of $10 back in addition to $350 in winnings. When you lose, you lose the entire wager.
House Edge
The house edge remains the same of 5.26% on double zero tables and 2.70% on single zero tables.
Splits, 2 Numbered Bet
In this type of bet you may also choose to split. What this means is you can bet on two numbers at the same time. Simply place your chip on the line that separates the two numbers you want to bet one. If you wanted to bet on 10 and 11 then place your chip on the line in between. The same goes for betting on 25, 28; 34, 35 or any other numbers that are neighbors.
The following table shows a split bet on numbers 7 and 8, 16 and 19, and finally 35 and 36.

Payout
You increase your odds of winning with a split bet, but it’s still a more difficult bet to win so the odds are 17:1. So, for every $1 that you wager if you win you will receive $17. If you bet $10 on your split bet of 20 and 21 and the ball lands on one of those numbers then you win $170. When you lose, your entire wager is lost.
House Edge
The house edge is the same of 5.26% for double zero wheels and 2.70% for single zero wheels.
The Courtesy Line (Another 2 Numbered Bet Variation)
Many people choose the 0/00 split and it is really popular. However, some people situated at the end of the table cannot reach the 0/00 on the table to place their bets. As a result, the table has a courtesy line that is not marked as such, but that the dealers know exist. If you are at the end of the table and you want to bet on 0/00 and can’t reach then simply place your bet on the line between the 2nd and 3rd dozens. This is the exact same bet as the 0/00 split.
The table below demonstrates where the courtesy line is and how to place your chips if you want to make this bet.

Streets (Three Numbered Bets)
Another popular bet is called a street bet. This bet is a three number bet that are all in the same row. The way you bet on this type of bet is to place your chips on the line on the row of number’s outside edge. The way you would do this for the numbers 28, 29l, and 30 would be to place the chips on the line that starts the row. The way you identify a street bet is by saying the first number in the row.
For example, look at the table below and you can see the bet would be considered a “28 street” bet.

Payout
The payout for the street bet is at 11:1 odds. The way you win is if the ball lands on any one of the three numbers you chose. If you bet $10 on the 28th street and the ball landed on one of those numbers then you would win $110. It’s basically $11 in winnings for every $1 you bet. When you lose this bet you lose your wager.
House Edge
For street bets the house edge remains the same as the rest of the roulette bets.
Corners: 4 Numbered Bet
Another bet that is common in roulette is the four corners bet, simply called corners. This bet allows you to bet on four numbers at one time. All you do is place your chip in the middle of four touching numbers to place your bet. There are options to bet the 10/14 corner or the 11/13 corner in the table shown below. This is determined by the diagonal numbers. Take a look and you can see how the bet is handled and what a four corners bet looks like. In this illustration the bet is placed on the 23, 24, 26, and 27.

Payout
The payout for betting on the four corners has odds of 8:1. These odds are pretty good and it means that if you bet $10 on this particular bet and one of the numbers wins then you would receive $80 plus your original bet. Those who bet and lost lose their entire wager.
House Edge
The house edge for the corners bet is the same as the other bets at 5.26% for double zero wheels and 2.70% for single zero wheels.
Avenues: Six Number Bets
The six number bet may be referred to the avenue bet or the line bet at times. This bet allows you to bet on six different numbers at one time. The one rule is that the six numbers you want to bet on must be located in adjacent rows. The way you bet on six number avenues is to play your chips in the middle of the two rows and at the beginning of the rows. So, if you were betting on 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21 then you could call it the 13/16 avenue bet because the two rows begin with each of these numbers.

Some people can’t remember if they are making a street bet or an avenue bet because they are so similar. The rule of thumb to remembering is to think that a street is not as wide as an avenue so one row is a street and two rows is an avenue.
Payouts
The odds are 5:1 that one of your numbers will be where the ball lands. This means that if you wager $10 then you receive $50 as winnings and the other $10 is kept by you. When you lose the bet then you lose your wager.
House Edge
The house edge is 2.70% for single zero wheels and 5.26% for double zero wheels.
The Top Line: (Five Numbered Bets) (American Roulette Only)
The top line five numbers bet is only available on roulette tables with double zeroes. The way this bet is made is to bet on five consecutive numbers. This would be 0, 00, 1, 2, 3. Place your chip at the corner of the layout and where the 0 and 1 spaces intersect.
The table below shows you how to bet on the top line.

Payout
The payout for betting on the top line has 6:1 odds. So, if the ball lands on one of the numbers in this bet then you will be paid at 6:1 odds. The way this works out monetarily for a $10 bet is that you win $60 and keep your $10 original bet. If you lose, you lose the entire mount you bet.
House Edge
For this particular bet the house edge changes somewhat. It shoots up to 7.89% on double zero wheels. You can’t bet this on single zero wheels and it’s not a good idea to bet it on double zero wheels because it is not a good deal. This bet is not recommended.
0-1-2 and 00-2-3 Variations (Three Number Variations)
When you bet 0-1-2 or 00-2-3 then you are betting on specific numbers. This would be on 0, 1, and 2 from the first set and 00, 2 and 3 from the second set. The way you bet on these numbers is by placing your chips where the three numbers intersect.
The table below gives you a visual of how to place the 0-1-2 or 00-2-3 bet so you are prepared to do so at the casino.

Payout
The odds for this bet are 11:1 and the way you win is if the ball lands on any one of the numbers you bet on. For every $1 you bet you will win $11. This is similar to the street bet, but they are on three numbers and that is why the odds are 11:1.
House Edge
The house edge on these bets for double zero wheels is 5.26%. Single zero wheels do not have this bet available.
