Texas Hold’em Poker is by far the easiest game to play. Within 15 minutes, you can already get a good grasp of how the system works, though you cannot really assure yourself that you can acquire some of the very best techniques. But then again, the latter can be developed over the course of time. What’s important is you know the rules and how to execute them properly.

Below is a step-by-step guide on how to play the Texas Hold’em Poker:

1. Know the betting structure of the game. There are two ways on how you can start the ball rolling. You either go for the blind or the ante. The ante is the predetermined amount that every player places on the pot—and usually, it’s a very small one such as a nickel or a dime. The contribution of each one is equal. The blind, meanwhile, is the one often used in Texas Hold’em Poker games. This means that the two players to the left of the dealer will be forced to make a bet before a deal will be called. The player sitting two seats from the left of the dealer shall give the big blind, which is normally the biggest possible minimum bet he can make. The other player will make a small blind, which can be around 1/2 or 1/3 to the contribution of the other player. Hence, if the minimum bet will be $4, player A will give the exact amount, while the other will be putting $2.

The difference between the two is this: the ante doesn’t constitute a bet, but the blind does. The former is just used to begin the game properly.

2. The game begins with the shuffling of the cards. One whole pack of cards, or 52 of them, shall be used in playing the game. Only the dealer will be able to shuffle the cards. Every player then shall be given two initial cards, whose faces are not revealed. These are called the pocket or hole cards.

3. Betting starts. Starting with the one on the left of the last one who contributed a blind bet, shall provide their own contribution, depending on the betting structures implemented. This type of round is also called the pre-flop. Along the way, the player has three options. He can raise, fold, or call. When he wants to raise, he will give the same amount as the previous bet plus more. A person who calls is someone who matches the present bet that is on the table. Lastly, when you want to fold, it means that you don’t want to make your bet and that you will have to drop your hand (your cards). If the pot is not raised during pre-flop, the big blind will have to raise the amount he gave early on, while the small blind will have to call a half bet.

4. The topmost card is removed. When everyone has already made their decision about their bets, the dealer will then remove the topmost card among the pack, which is then called the burn card. This process is done to prevent the players from cheating.

5. A flop is dealt. The dealer will then flip three cards on the table, which will then be called flop. They can be used by the players to combine with their initial two pocket cards. This is to create a poker hand. After this, another round of betting is done.

 6. A turn card is dealt. Almost the entire process is repeated. After betting, another burn card is removed, but this time, only one card is added on the table, and it’s known as the turn card. This is the sixth card that the players can use to create a five-card poker hand. Betting starts again. At this rate, the total size of the bet can increase to twofold.

7. A river is dealt. After the last burn card is eliminated from the deck, the river is then placed on the table, and it’s supposed to be the last card to play with. The player will now have the option to choose any of the cards (five of them) that are on the table. They can mix them with their present two cards. The last betting round will then commence.

8. Players then reveal their cards. The two faced-down cards shall be revealed, starting with the last player who made a call. This stage is called the showdown. There are many possible hands that you can play in Texas Hold’em Poker, but the rule is the one with the best hand will be the winner. He has the option now to split the winnings equally among the others or not.
