Card Counting History
Card counting has been around for quite a while and the father of this method of play is considered to be Dr. Edward O. Thorp. He came up with many methods to assist in card counting and to help players get the edge. However, many casinos have taken great strides to eliminate card counting so it is more difficult today than a few decades ago.
Card counting has had some very popular followers and some who performed very well with it. Today, card counting is hard to get away with so you need to know the rules well as well as how to hide your card counting.
Blackjack team play is a popular way of counting cards and raking in the dough. There have been quite a few players who have claimed this particular method of card counting has earned them millions of dollars. People like “The Greeks” and Tommy Hyland as well as Ken Uston and Al Francesco have used this method with great success. Some MIT students found this method worked well for winning at Blackjack and put it into practice. Books on blackjack teams served two purposes. One, to teach more players how to go about making and working blackjack teams and two to teach casinos how to protect themselves from black jack teams. One particular court case determined that players using card-counting techniques entirely in their brain would to be considered cheating but rather the use of intelligence.
