Blackjack Switch
Blackjack Switch is one of many different blackjack strategies. In this variant a player receives two hands of cards and may choose the best one to play with. So, if a player’s first hand was a 6 and a 10 and the next hand was a 5 and a 10 the player can choose to create a hand of 10 and 10. The payout is more modest at 1:1 when blackjack occurs naturally.
Basic strategy
The graph below outlines basic strategy. Strategy is actually quite important in Blackjack and it can really help you win or lose so take some time and study the graph. Learn what you should do with your hand in relation to the dealer’s face up card. There is so much you can learn from this simple graph and if you are really into blackjack you should print it out and carry it around with you so that you can study it and really ingrain the actions you should take on certain cards.
The basic strategy isn’t the only one out there. In fact, the rules that apply to the game will affect the strategy you should use. Below are several guides relating to different rules so you can see what strategy you should use for various sets of rules.
For example, a game with 6 decks, Hard 17, 9 decks, double down after split allowed, late surrender and peek would have a casino edge of 0.67%. The same game with only one deck will have a casino edge of 0.14%. When 8 decks are used the house edge is at 0.70%.
Switch decisions
Generally, it is quite obvious when the player decides to trade cards or not. When it is not obvious the best rule to follow is to choose an option that will allow you to form the best possible single hand.
