Spanish 21-Card Counting
One of the bonuses in Spanish 21 is that the small cards are more valuable than they would be in traditional blackjack because of the bonuses for five, six, and seven cards. The belief was the effects of all of these combined would make it useless to count cards. However, the opposite occurred. In fact, there are several reasons why card counting is more effective in Spanish 21 than in traditional blackjack. Check them out below and you will see for yourself why Spanish 21 is worth learning how to count cards!
- A higher proportion of Aces at 1/12 instead of 1/13 makes the game more advantageous to the player.
- Aces are more advantageous to players because it is permitted to split on an ace as well as resplit aces.
- Blackjacks that are naturals are always paid at 3:2 even if the dealer has a natural. This leads to more advantages by the player.
- On high counts in both games players will win more double downs.
- The most common hand in both games is a stiff hand. There is little variation in traditional blackjack but in Spanish 21 the indices to affect the win rate to a greater extent.
- The average natural frequency increase for every +1 increase in Hi-Lo true count is 17% more than in blackjack. The indices affect the win in Spanish 21 more than they do in Blackjack.
- Large betting spreads are easier to get away with in Spanish 21 than in traditional blackjack simply because casinos don’t consider card counting in this particular variance a threat.
Those who like a better return on their money and a low house edge will find Spanish 21 gives them both of those in ways traditional blackjack cannot. There are other methods to help your Spanish 21 strategy, too, including ace sequencing, hole carding, and the like.
