 When you visit your local casino you will first need to find a table that fits your betting expectations. When you have found the table that you would like to play at you will need to sit down and wait for some of the action to die down. When there is a break in the play you will need to play money out in front of you on the felt table. You should generally place enough cash on the table to cover ten to 20 times your average bet, so if you were at a $5 table you will want to buy in at $50 to $100 initially. When the dealer has taken notice of you do not try to hand them your cash, this is not the way a casino works. Dealers are taught to never take cash from the hands of players, so simply allow the dealer to take your cash from the table so he or she can change it out for chips.
It’s important to remember that when you lay your cash on the table that you will not be able to ask for cash. The dealer is not a cashier; instead they simply change out whatever money you lay on the table for the equal amount of chips. When the cash is changed out the dealer will usually push the chips toward you, across the table.

In a real Las vegas casino you;ll notice that when you receive your chips you might notice that there are different colors and you’ll also find if you visit other casinos, or even when you play online, that these chip colors and their values are pretty much standard across the industry. Just as a review you should know that red chips are usually worth $5, green chips are usually worth $25, and black chips are usually $100. You may also see white chips that are worth $1, though some casinos have silver tokens to represent $1. There are even a few casinos out there that have pink chips, which are worth $2.50 and if you are a high roller you may see purple chips that are worth $500. You need to know these colors because when the dealer gives you your chips you need to ensure that you were given the proper value.
Online live blackjack tables are different because you have n absolute value of money in your account, and when you go to make the bet you select your chips acording to the amounts you want to bet.
Luckily, the colors of the chips that are used are universal and you won’t have to learn the color system for each casino. Online casinos usually use the same colors just for continuity, so if you know the system at your favorite online casino chances are that you will be able to pick up on the system at your local casino with ease.
