There is an effective way to win in live roulette? Many experts say there isn’t. After all, live roulette is entirely a game of chance. There are no skills at play here, although a number of players use their extensive knowledge of odds and probabilities to maximize their chance of winning. Nonetheless, unlike other casino games, these experts say there are no definitive live roulette techniques. But, of course, this did not stop a number of roulette enthusiasts from coming up with tactics and strategies to beat the house during a live roulette game. Most of the techniques here are merely techniques on how to bet—as this is how live roulette is played, as anyone should know. By following these betting strategies, a player can increase his chances of winning—or at least recouping his loses from the previous rounds. Not surprisingly, a number of these strategies involve statistics and computations on probability. A player does not need to fully understand how these strategies were devised, although comprehending their conception can help players know how effective a strategy can be.
A popular live roulette strategy was devised by Andres Martinez, a former editor at the Los Angeles Times. According to his strategy the “dopey experiment,” a player can divide his live roulette session into 35 units. The player should place a bet on only one particular number during this unit for 35 consecutive spins. When the number hits at any of those 35 spins, the player can immediately recover the previous loses during the 35-unit bankroll. Remember that the casino odds today are set at 34 or 35 to one; or, in simpler terms, a player wins 34 or 35 dollars for every dollar he bets. This means, at any given point during the 35 units in the “dopey experiment,” the player wins 35 dollars once he hits the number. Of course, if one computes the probability of a particular number hitting during those 35 turns or units, one would get a 60 percent probability.
Another basic live roulette strategy is betting doubles on colors. In a roulette game, a player can bet on the colors as well as the numbers. This technique requires patience—and a little bit of luck, of course, as in any game of chance. For instance, a player bets two dollars on a red and four dollars on black. The total money placed on bet is six dollars, and the biggest amount the player can win is eight, if the ball hits on black. However, if it doesn’t hit on black, the player still wins four dollars. This strategy is called even money, a way to guarantee that a player does not completely lose per turn.
Both of these strategies require patience, since players have to bet on the same tile for a prolonged period of time. It is important that a player does not change the color or number of the chosen bet in order to make the technique more effective. This may seem difficult, of course, especially in a game as dynamic as live roulette, but patience is king in most casino games anyway. But these strategies are very rudimentary, since the aim here is to recover loses and not to win big. More advanced players should opt for more complex plans.
