Understanding Live Blackjack

To understand the game of live Blackjack you need to understand the idea behind the game.  In simple terms, the idea is for the player to put together a hand that is valued closer to the number 21, which is called blackjack.  The idea is that the player should have a hand closer to 21 than the dealer without going over 21.  One benefit of this game is that the player does not have to pay attention to the hands of other players as this game is played independently of all other players at the table. In other words, each player is playing against the hand of the dealer.

Many people like the game of live dealer Blackjack because the rules are easy to understand and are very concise.  Even if you are new to the game you will understand the game because it is played the same way from hand to hand. In fact, there are not only rules for the players but also for the dealer.  What this means is that there is no gray area, no need for the dealer to determine who has won and who has not.  Because the game is very straightforward the cards are dealt face up.  It doesn’t matter because the players at the table are not playing against one another.  Many beginners like the fact that the cards are dealt face up because it allows them to see what other people do so they can ask questions during game play.

Now that the idea behind the game is understood a player needs to understand what it means to hit or hold.  Again, these are terms that most people have heard but they may not know when to put them to use.  When you hit you are telling the dealer that you would like to receive another card into your hand.  When you hold you are telling the dealer that you do not need any other cards.  As you can see, if you got to this stage in the game and you didn’t know what the premise was it would be difficult to win.  Many experienced players have a certain hand value that they will get to and then they do not receive any more cards.  For instance, some people will not hit after 17 or 18 because they don’t want to bust, or go over 21.  This is something that you will need to play around with a bit and see what works for you.
